|Kontakion of the Cross, Tone 4
O Christ our God, you willingly accepted to be lifted on the Cross,
Giving your mercies to the new nation named after you;
Giving joy to Orthodox faithful.
And with your power you gave them victory over enemies.
~ May they have as an ally your Cross the invincible trophy,
the weapon of peace.

Be ready, O Bethlehem!
Let the manger be prepared, and let the cave extend its welcome!
For Truth Himself has come, and the shadow of darkness has passed away;
God born of the Virgin has appeared to us on earth,
taking our mortal nature and deifying that which he assumed.
Therefore Adam with Eve is renewed, and they cry out:
The One in whom the Father is well pleased,
~ has appeared on earth to save our race!
